Frequently asked questions

At Caswell Hill Clay Shoot, we understand that Clay Pigeon Shoot’s come in different shapes and sizes!  Here are some of our most commonly asked questions, if you want to know any further information, please contact us through the relevant page.

What equipment do I need to bring with me?

Equipment needed would include warm or comfortable clothing for summer or winter days. PPE we would advise is ear protection and safety glasses as a minimum.

Can you supply a gun for me to use?

We would suggest you bring your own gun as this will be tailored to the you as the user. If you have not shot before come with a friend who would be happy to share their’s and accompany you at the shoot.

How many people can I bring to watch?

Family or friends are welcome to spectate, there is plenty of room around the stands and the refreshment area to enjoy the day with you. If you are in groups with a large number of shooters this can take longer to get round so please allow ample time.

What is the age limit?

There is no age limit, all ages are welcome, younger shooters should be accompanied by an adult with a shotgun/fire arms license and be monitored around the stands.

Do I need to have my own licence?

You can shoot without a license but you need a family member or friend who will be responsible for you, please notify the organiser of the shoot or the safety officer to sign a disclaimer and then your all set to go. If you enjoy the sport you can apply for a license, please ask personnel at the shoot for more information and they will point you in the right direction.

Do you supply cartridges?

We supply cartridges, score cards and ear protection if you need it. You can bring your own cartridges but please make sure they are ‘fibre wad’ and the correct type for your gun. If shooting a semi auto, please load only two cartridges at all times and when walking between stands, display a breech safety flag, conventional shotguns please leave barrels broken as a safe practice.

How long does each game last?

A round of shooting can last from 1 to 2 hours depending on the attendance or the sizes of the groups you are in. The shoot will normally commence from 10am unless advertised differently and will cover 5 stands with 10 Clays on each, per person.

What should I wear?

Please wear warm or comfortable clothing as it is an outside event and weather can change quickly, practical footwear and that’s it!

Do you serve food and drinks on site?

Tea and coffee are included in the price of the shoot but food and soft drinks are available at good prices, please bring cash with you as card is not currently accepted.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome but please keep on a lead.
